Kowloon Veterinary Hospital (KVH) has a comprehensive in-house laboratory facility, which allows us to carry out a range of blood tests, urine tests and microscopic examinations.
We can get the results of these tests very quickly and are often able to give the report to owners within hours of taking the samples (sometimes within minutes!)
Blood tests can tell our vets how well your pet’s liver and kidneys are functioning; we can assess your pet’s blood glucose and electrolyte levels and we can measure red and white blood cell numbers, which are important indicators of health and certain diseases.
These tests are used to provide essential diagnostic information, to monitor ongoing conditions and to help assess your pet’s ability to safely undergo general anesthesia and surgical procedures.
Urine samples can be tested for indications of diabetes, kidney disease and a host of other problems. Urine samples can also be examined under the microscope for abnormal cells, inflammation and structures such as crystals and casts.
When more specialised tests are needed, we send the samples directly to an external veterinary laboratory with results returned, sometimes as quickly as the following day.
